High intellectual potential

Learning to live in society as a high potential

Learning to live in society as a a high potential.

High intellectual potential individuals stand out remarkably. If you've ever conversed with or are a high-potential individual, you've certainly noticed this exceptional quality. Being extraordinary is not about superhero traits; it's about deviating from the norm. This deviation naturally raises the question of fitting serenely into society.

For most people not identified as high potential, aligning completely with others' opinions isn't essential. Through minor adjustments in attitudes and behaviors, blending into the majority and the mainstream culture is relatively easy in professional, family, social, and romantic spheres. Withholding one's thoughts on certain matters usually doesn't trouble the conscience. However, for the gifted, the situation is markedly different.

Gifted individuals operate differently, significantly so. Their amplified emotional and intellectual spheres make it impossible for them to accept certain behaviors or thought systems. This reasoning disrupts their adoption of standardized environments. The core issue is the standardization of thought. Gifted individuals do not operate based on the majority's thinking; they follow their own logic. Attempts to fit them into societal molds are futile – they have never and will never fit in. Their logic governs them.

Unmanageable Dissonance

For those without the 'high potential' trait, it's possible to make agreements with their brain, or rather, their conscience. This is where cognitive dissonance comes in, when imposed actions or thoughts conflict with personal beliefs. Most people can somewhat compromise their principles for societal gains or acceptance without significant conscience issues. For the gifted, facing cognitive dissonance is a different story. They are bound to align with their thought system, linked to a set of humanistic, logical, and legitimate principles.

Like a Child

So, how can a high-potential individual blend into society? Without filters and unable to contravene their reasoning, acceptance in an increasingly uniform and normative world is challenging. As children grow, parents teach them societal norms. Imagine a high-potential individual as a child guided only by what's logically right for them and others, not what's commonly accepted. This comparison is not reductive but rather insightful. A child, in their pure innocence and kindness, doesn't manipulate for malicious reasons. An infant is a bundle of joy; it's their learning and experiences that shape and sometimes tarnish their fundamental benevolence. A child's remarks, insightful and unfiltered, are magically spontaneous, often humorous, though sometimes inappropriate. As they grow, the child becomes an adult, shaped by societal demands, but the essence of being a child, playing the role of an adult, remains.

Utilizing Hyper empathy

Embracing the childlike approach and learning from societal play can offer solutions for high potentials. Children's incredible ability to sense the essence of a situation and their developed empathy can guide gifted individuals in understanding and adapting to their environment. Applying this hyper empathy – the strong and rapid ability to feel what others feel – can help gifted individuals to better accept and be accepted in society.

Inherently Virtuous Asset

Life is a grand theater, and we are merely passing actors. In this theatricality, it's hard for the gifted to find their place. The self-proclaimed codes of 'living well together' often clash with the gifted's sincere representations of respect, kindness, and empathy. Instead of fighting against societal norms and hierarchies, it's more feasible for high potentials to play along with this context. Adopting 'integrity' – the opposite of manipulation – involves subtly guiding others to understand and reach conclusions independently. This approach avoids conflicts and achieves positive objectives for themselves and their surroundings.

Creating Comfort Zones

Communication and social integration can be challenging for the gifted. Difficulties in decoding situations and a tendency towards spontaneity don't aid everyday comfort. Therefore, it's important for high potentials to create their comfort zones. Avoid unnecessary risks, observe your reactions and feelings, and anticipate situations that could be energetically taxing. Trust your gut – the center of your emotions – as it will guide you in uncomfortable or dissonant situations.

An Endless Battle

Living as a gifted individual is an unending struggle in a world of misunderstandings, social violence, and injustices. With humility, high potentials must view this world, which operates so differently from them. Their lucidity, a tremendous asset, allows them to anticipate negative, harmful, or even dangerous situations. In this endless battle, high potentials can offer exceptional things to the world by transforming their weapons into water pistols and spreading a positive, humanistic view. Embracing openness, humility, and virtue will help gifted individuals find their rightful place in society.
